Hello, my name is M. Thomas Lott, and I am delighted to be serving as the Associate Pastor of Trinity UMC.
I grew up in this congregation, so to be able to serve Trinity UMC as the Associate Pastor is a tremendous blessing. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009 with a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Religious Studies. I first heard God’s call to the vocation of ministry during my undergraduate studies, and I decided to explore that call by participating in the Calling 21 program, where I was assigned to Vision of Peace Church and Korean UMC of Greater Washington in McLean, Virginia. My amazing experience in the Calling 21 program affirmed this call to the vocation of ministry. After graduating from VCU, I pursued theological education at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, graduating with a Master of Divinity in May 2012.
While living in Massachusetts, I attended Old West Church – United Methodist in Boston, where I served as a Field Education intern as well as co-founded and led the praise band. I also had the opportunity to complete a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Communicating God’s grace to others through ministry is important to me, as I appreciate the grace that God has and continues to extend towards me. I am passionate about cross-racial/cross-cultural ministry and contemporary worship, especially contemporary Christian music. Other interests of mine include astronomy, Hindi, comedy, and literature.
